Unison Cost Engineering (UCE) is the leading developer of cost estimating software solutions. With a 40-plus year history in the Cost Engineering community, our products and services are used worldwide to enable professionals within federal agencies and commercial companies to estimate project cost, effort, schedule, and uncertainty. As a Solutions Consultant, you will work alongside our seasoned U.S.-based Customer Success and Cost Research teams. You will work with both new and current customers from government agencies, Aerospace & Defense companies, and other commercial clients to implement and provide ongoing consulting services for Unison Cost Engineering software, specifically in the Software and IT cost estimating domain.  In addition, you will assist Business Development in educating prospective customers about Unison Cost Engineering products and services in support of new business opportunities, acting as a technical resource during the sales process and completing customer demonstrations and other briefings. Lastly, you will work closely with our Cost Research team to provide software subject matter expertise in the ongoing development and updates of our software and IT estimation models.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact and Subject Matter Expert for your assigned client accounts, providing cost engineering best practices and other technical support, as needed, to increase clients’ understanding and use of the cost estimating software suite. Provide UCE software training, both remote and in person, for new and existing clients. (NOTE: Training will be provided on UCE tools and capabilities prior to commencement of customer engagements.)
  • Be a software estimating SME for the entire Unison Cost Engineering team.
  • Expand the use of Unison Cost Engineering solutions throughout the client’s organization by investigating, uncovering, and sharing with the Business Development team new ways that Unison Cost Engineering can provide additional customer value.
  • Manage regular client communication and ongoing relationships as it relates to current, new and upcoming projects.
  • Analyze existing business processes within a client organization to encourage and support process improvement initiatives as prescribed by Unison Cost Engineering.
  • Support the UCE Cost Research team with creating, testing, and implementing software modeling improvements based on industry trends and continued data collection/analysis.
  • Be a technical resource for the Business Development team, providing demonstrations and other briefings to potential clients and answering questions about product implementation and usage.
  • Advise product management on improvements in forthcoming product developments and identify key industry trends, test software releases, and provide feedback on functionality and ease of use.
  • Be the voice of the customer to internal stakeholders, ensuring critical issues are appropriately addressed and there is a clear understanding of customer priorities and status.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Unison Cost Engineering training curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver thought leadership via blogs, webinars and conference presentations, promoting Unison Cost Engineering as an industry leader of cost engineering services and applications.
  • Maintain proficiency in all aspects of Unison Cost Engineering software and perform consultancy projects as required.

Qualifications

  • High level of proficiency with Information Technology (IT) & software development, implementation, and sustainment cost estimating, to include:
    • Familiarity with software sizing methodologies such as source lines of code and International Function Point User Group (IFPUG) function points.
    • Familiarity with processes, sizing, and cost estimating of Agile software development projects. (Scrum Master certification a plus)
    • Familiarity with processes, sizing, and cost estimating of Cloud software development projects.
    • Familiarity with processes, sizing, and cost estimating of cybersecurity projects.
    • Familiarity with processes, sizing, and cost estimating of embedded software projects.
  • Ability to define organizational challenges and architect solutions (Six Sigma experience / certification a plus).
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Unison TruePlanning® to support and / or lead consultancy projects as required. (NOTE: You will be provided with training on TruePlanning upon commencing employment with the company.)
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools, especially the ability to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data into cost estimation repositories and perform statistical analysis of the data.
  • Ability to define realistic project requirements and manage internal and external resources.
  • Knowledge of other industry-recognized cost estimating software such as ACE-IT, Crystal Ball, @Risk and/or ProPricer.
  • Ability to work with clients to discover and understand gaps/weaknesses in current cost estimating processes/procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and ability to plan, organize and deliver cost estimating / training tasks using Unison Cost Engineering technology.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and solve difficult problems with minimal oversight.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.
  • While the position is fully remote, travel will be required for onsite client engagements, periodic company meetings and other events.
