Overview

The Cost Research Analyst  provides Unison Cost Engineering (UCE) TruePlanning clients with timely, relevant research and models focused on the cost, effort, and schedule associated with software development and maintenance.  The Cost Research Analyst should be a subject matter expert (SME) in the software field and software measurement. The Cost Research Analyst  should have the math skills to use that SME knowledge to maintain the software estimating models in the TruePlanning suite and to create new software estimating models to keep the software suite aligned with emerging software technologies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Software cost research delivered to clients through industry specific knowledge bases and through the TruePlanning software model suite in the form of Cost Estimating Relationships, calculators, tables and other forms of user guidance
  • Create and maintain requirements, high level design and verification of all of the TruePlanning cost models in the software suite
  • Identification and maintenance of credible sources for software cost, effort and technical data
  • Continuous software cost, effort, and technical data to support model development and refresh the body of software knowledge maintained for TruePlanning users
  • Coordinate closely with the Cost Research Team and Product Management to facilitate the development of requirements for all of the TruePlanning software catalog offerings
  • Meet with software industry leaders, TruePlanning users and prospects and the UCE consultants to facilitate the cost and affordability needs of the software community
  • Coordinate closely with the Cost Research Team and the Product Development Team to facilitate the proper implementation of requirements.  
  • Verify that finished products deliver the proper requirements
  • Coordinate with UCE consultings to facilitate the exchange of cost research data
  • Create persuasive cost research materials (papers, presentations, blogs, webinars) for internal and public consumption
  • Enhance the image of Unison Cost Engineering's cost research subject matter expertise in the software arena

 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

  • BS in an Engineering related field such as Software Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering or a similar field (MS in such a field would be a bonus)
  • At least 5 years experience in software engineering, product development or other software related discipline 
  • Excellent math skills, and the passion to put those skills to work analyzing data and developing models
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • US Citizenship is required for this position
